The text that I will be writing about in my analytical research paper is a show called Naruto. Child neglect is something that is not shown much to people and is also very hard to prove because there are so many different forms of child neglect that a child can feel. This will lead to the child as an adult will have post-traumatic stress(PTSD), educational difficulties, low self-esteem, trouble forming and maintaining the relationship, and depression. We need to address the child neglect problem so that America and the rest of the world will have a reliable future.

In the show, a boy named Naruto suffers from child neglect since he has the nine tail fox, which had destroyed attacked the village and killed many people, sealed in him, and everyone treated as an outcast. Naruto was not the only person in the show who went through child neglect. There were also people like Kakashi and Gaara who also went through similar child neglect. This is something I felt like talking about in my essay because it is not a problem that many people will talk about, but in fact, a problem that we should see more since child neglect cases are rising every year as well as child abuse right next to it. Forms of neglect that are common factors are physical neglect, medical neglect, educational neglect, and emotional neglect that can be seen in today’s cases in America and also around the world. The leading cause for most children that get abuse is the fact that many of the parents are substance users, single parenting, or marital conflicts that break the house apart and leave the child in the middle. I believe if this problem can be brought to light then more people can speak out for children who are afraid to speak up for themselves.

In “The Good Immigrant Student” by Bich Minh Nguyen, she claims that , “I would like to make a broad, accurate statement about immigrant children in schools. I would like to speak for them (us). I hesitate; I cannot”(90). Nguyen said this because she want to be able to tell a whole story about how all immigrants are treated, but cannot because all immigrant students are treated differently. In her case, she was more of the quiet type, so she tended to fade from the sight of her teachers and classmates. As for people like her sister who was not about to be walked over they more drag themselves for change in this type of society against white prejudice mindset in the school they attend or even in their own neighborhood. Nguyen also said that, “Today, bilingual education is supposed to have become both a method of assimilation and a method of preservation…“(85). This was a plan to better have the immigrants assimilate in to America without a problem, but it is very hard for immigrant children to find a place once they are viewed as a threat to society by the other people that live around them. every group of people have their space for them from when groups first formed in different areas. Schools are suppose to be a safe place for all children, but instead is used as a battle ground for adult to continue fighting for oppression through their children. America need to accept change of their society, so that immigrant like Nguyen and her sister can better get an education in an environment that is more welcoming them into America without fear of standout based on the color of their skin.

The problem that America faces is the fact that many of the people do not support the government and there ideas of equality. President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address to address the unrest that was around the people fighting in the Civil War. President Lincoln wanted to end to countless death of people who where fighting in the war. As he claims, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom–and that government of the people by the people, for the people, shall no perish from the earth”. President Lincoln want to use equality as a way to inflict peace onto the people of America. America in that moment was divided and the only purpose of the war was for people to keep their slaves respect from both sides of the war. This speech was his stepping stone leading to that equality since the Emancipation Proclamation.

President Kennedy’s Inaugural address was the speech to combine the nation through the people and unite the people under the American flag for the future of America. The people had the right to choose the path that they wanted to take to the future as long as they do it together. President Kennedy says, “To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge–to covert our good words into good deeds–in a new alliance for progress–to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty”. Both President Lincoln and Kennedy are hoping that the nation can come together for peace and prosperity. They both want the same thing just went about moving to accomplishing their goals a little different. One wanted the country to unite to build a better nation and another to build a better connection to the other countries.

In my opinion, feel that this quote by President Kennedy,  “Those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.” was a quote said here to enlighten the American people that when people chase power it never work out the way they plan because them and their people never came to an understanding on where each stood or upheld any of the equality willingly. Power over someone just makes the hate the country have stronger and put the blame toward the wrong person or group of people. Both presidents are right when wanting to bring the country together but even with the class divide gone legally, people still have the trait since in some families the hate is just passed down.

Malcolm X was a leader to the black community. When he was imprison, he used his confinement to find his true freedom. The embodiment of education is something that many people didn’t have at the time. Malcolm X  use the negative aspects of prison and turned it around to better benefit him. Blacks oppression didn’t stop him from getting the same education as a college student at the time. Malcolm states that, “In fact, prison enabled me to study for more intensively than I would if my life had gone differently and I attend some college”. Malcolm had a way to build on to the ability that the confinement gave him by reading book from the library and being able to read. Many of the black communities couldn’t understand a lot of thing and because of the prison, which was a place used to limit the black community, Malcolm turned this negative aspect of being placed in jail to find his true calling. Malcolm whole life changed around because of his building curiosity on wanting to expand his knowledge.  Malcolm claims that, “I could spend the rest of my life reading just satisfying my curiosity”. The ability to read can never be so liberating. literacy is a art that many of the people did not have access to. Prison is the only place that have any books that are not restricted to anyone in the public or skin based. Malcolm used his knowledge to give his experience in the book to everyone who was willing to listen and learn the same way he did.

Language plays an important part in Amy Tan’s life. The English that her mother knew was limited because of her native tongue. Amy took notices to this and seen that because of her mother first language being Chinese it mixes with her English creating “Broken English”. This “Broken English” made many people try to not put in the effort to give Amy’s mother the time of day making a mark on Amy’s life. Amy realized that there are many different kinds of English. There is the English people would use at work or giving a speech and then there is the English everyone uses when they are home. Amy claimed that “I was ashamed of her English”. The school’s teaching had made it hard for Amy to respect her mother’s English as it wasn’t the way that she was taught. Amy  didn’t want to be part of the ideal Asian-American student that focus more on math and wanted to be different and become a English major. Amy establishes this by stating, “I started writing nonfiction as a freelancer the week after I was told by my former boss that writing was my worst skill”. The example that was placed here deeply shows how there was no fate put in Amy and she had the motivation of her mother broken English to push her ideals forward.

I think people who grew up with English being there second language struggle more in America because Americans don’t like trying to understand people when they are attempting to talk English because it isn’t the English they were taught. I am not fully aware of the struggles of other people and communications with others because I was never really put in a situation where I couldn’t make out what the other person was saying to me and I always take the time to help someone if they ask. From my friends I know that at home they speak in there native tongue and when outside their home they speak in English. Most of the times when with people who speak another language I always wandered if they are more comfortable speaking their native tongue or English. I have come to the realization that most people who are different are treated as such because of the system that was created long ago and many people are not even aware of the damage they are doing to others. Most of American behavior is unintentional, but unavoidable because the lack of awareness of their action.

Class Introduction

Hello my name is Amani Daniel. My gender pronouns are his/him. My  intended major is Civil Engineering. 

After reading the syllabus, I am most excited for is the feed back from my peers and teacher to help me improve on my writing and hearing my classmates ideas so that I can expand on my own mindset.  I am most nervous about the essays that we will be writing for the class . I am sure that I can get used to the writing in the and improve my grammar skills that are average. The qualities of a good writing is structure so that the reader can easily follow along with what they are reading. The structure can be an important part of grabbing the reader’s attention. To get to this goal you have to continue to write and change around lines and words to better develop a way to see the topic from different protectives. It is important to write well to get your idea conveyed correctly without and misunderstandings.

The easiest writing for me is coming up with ideas on what to write for a topic given to me because of my expanding ideas of how I interpret the topic given to me. One of the struggles that have with writing is that following a rubric is hard for me because there are a lot of things that I have to make sure are included in to my paragraphs and it mess with my flow of writing which have me questioning a lot of the things that I end up writing. I’m not sure what genres will be expected of me in my major, but will take this opportunity to become a better writer overall. Let it be a email or a future essay, so that I can communicate with my peers on a more professional level
